Bonjour and welcome to our gite in South of France. If you are looking for an accommodation in a bed and breakfast, in Herault, Babette and Roland suggest you visit their charming country house (3 stars for "Gîtes de France holiday rentals).
Although the place was recently built, it was done with antique materials like porovence floor tiles or carved cedar doors (berber craft from Morocco). Comfort and simplicity in the middle of nature.
Nature is in fact all around and it is the pleasure of our horses that live outdoors, free, all the year round. In spring, the mediterranean vegetation XXX. In summer our river is cool and shady with spring-fresh water. There is even a place with a waterfall some call "paradise". In autumn, mushrooms and colorful vine-yards will suit gourmands and aesthetes. Lakes of Salagou and Avene are "just round the corner".
This Bed and breakfast (french style), is half-way between the Cevennes and the Provence.
Close, typical towns like Lodève (market on saturday, brilliant museum and Mediterranean voices' Festival), Pezenas, Moliere's town at 25 kms is a treasure for antique amateurs. And hte mediterranean sea is quite close: Sete and the port is a one hour drive. Fish market will introduce you to southern specialities.
And, at home, you may be lucky enough to taste Babette's specialities. The landlady lived a long time in Morocco where she still has a little casbah near Ouarzazate.
Roland a retired long-range rambler, will tell you about his riding adventures, from Cathar castles to Larzac Plateau, and moroccan Jebel Sahro too...
He will also tell you how he sent his letters to his lady-love with carrier pigeons.
